NURP 345: Contemporary Issues in Professional Nursing

This course is designed to assist the registered nurse student’s transition into the baccalaureate program in nursing. It is designed to promote self-awareness in response to change through examination and reflection of personal and professional values and to introduce students to the professional role responsibilities of a baccalaureate prepared nurse. This course explores and analyzes theories and propositions from social, psychological, medical, nursing, and interpersonal relations as a foundation to understanding research, practice, and scholarship in nursing. Contemporary issues include patient education, care transitions, ethical and legal issues in health care, United States and global diversity, quality and safety, evidence based practice, clinical judgment, and informatics.
